Magh Bihu (মাঘ বিহু) observed on the first day of Magh month as per Bengali Panjika is a harvest festival celebrated in Assam. Week-long celebration of Sankranti in Assam is known by the name of Magh Bihu and it marks the end of harvesting season in the month of Magh. Here in Assam, Magh Bihu festival is dedicated to Agni, the Lord of Fire and people pray to Sri Agni Devta for their well being and thanking God for a good harvest. All over India the festival of Sankranti is dedicated to Surya, the Sun Lord and known by the names of Makar Sankranti, Pongal etc.
