Mahalakshmi Vrat 2026 Date
Mahalakshmi Vrat begins on Bhadrapada month Shukla Ashtami which comes after four days of Ganesha Chaturthi festival and continues till the eight day of the Pitru Paksha (the Shradh period dedicated to ancestors). Mahalakshmi Vrat is observed for sixteen consecutive days which ends on Ashwin month Krishna Ashtami (as per Purnimanta calendar followed in North India). This vrat is observed with full fervour and dedication in the northern regions of India such as Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. Due to leaped and skipped Tithi during fasting period, total fasting days might reduce to fifteen days or might increase to seventeen days. The Mahalakshmi fasting is done to please and seek divine blessings of Mahalakshmi, the Goddess of wealth, prosperity and fortune.
