The elder brother of Lord Krishna, Lord Balarama is worshipped as 8th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Balarama Jayanti is the birth anniversary of Lord Balarama. In some regions of India, Balarama Jayanti is celebrated on the day of Akshaya Tritiya while in various other regions, Balarama Jayanti is celebrated on the Shravan Purnima day. Some celebrate it in the month of Vaisakh which falls either in April or May.

All the temples that worship Lord Krishna and Lord Balarama celebrate this day with great enthusiasm.

Lord Balarama is also worshipped as an Avatar of Adishesha, the serpent on which Lord Vishnu rests. He was very powerful because of which he killed Asura Dhenuka, the giant demon. Lord Balarama is believed to be the seventh child of Vasudeva and Devaki who has killed many demons and symbolizes power and strength. The people who worship Lord Baladeva and celebrate the day of Balaram Jayanti are blessed with a good healthy life.
