How is Teej known in Punjab and Rajasthan?

Teej is also called as Tay, Baya and Teeyan. In Punjab it is called by the name of Teeyan and Shingara Teej in Rajasthan.

Now let's talk about Akha Teej, Kajari Teej and Hartalika Teej:

Akha Teej

Akha Teej is also known as Akshaya Tritiya. Akha Teej or Akshaya Tritiya is highly auspicious day that is observed on the third day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha. ‘Akshaya’ means ‘that never diminishes’ and the word ‘Tritiya’ means ‘the third day’. Parashurama Jayanti is also celebrated on Akshaya Tritiya day. It is believed that Lord Vishnu incarnated as Parashurama on Akshaya Tritiya. Lord Ganesha , Devi Lakshmi and Lord of wealth (Kuber) is worshiped. People buy gold items and new utensils, clothes. This day of Akshaya Tritiya is regarded as the "swayam siddh muhurat" for the whole day and any auspicous work can be performed on this day without consulting any astrologer or Pandit.

Kajari Teej

Kajari Teej is also known as Kajli Teej and falls on the third day of Krishna Paksha in Bhadrapada month. The celebration is done for two days and sometimes continue till the arrival of Janmashtami, Sri Krishna's birthday. Goddess Parvati is worshipped on Kajari Teej. Married females fast on this day for the long life and well being of their husbands and get blessings of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. Women are dressed beautifully in their attire and do the 16 Shrinngaar (Bindi, Sindoor, Mehndi, Bangles, etc..are applied).

Hariyali Amavasya 2023 Date

Amavasya Tithi in the holy month of Sawan or Sharvana is observed as Hariyali Amavasya in North India and is considered highly auspicious. Hariyali Amavasya usually falls three days before famous Hariyali Teej and a day after Shravan Shivaratri, which comes on the Chaturdashi Tithi. 

North Indian temples especially in Mathura and Vrindavan, organize special Darshan on Hariyali Amavasya day. Thousands of Krishna devotees visit Dwarkadhish temple in Mathura and Banke Bhihari temple in Vrindavan for special Darshan of Lord Krishna.
