Hanuman Jayanthi 2022

Hanuman Jayanthi 2022

In Tamil Nadu Hanumath Jayanthi is observed during Margashirsha Amavasya  in Margazhi Month. Margashirsha Amavasya or Margazhi Amavasai as per Tamil calendar coincides with Moolam Nakshatram many a time. God Hanumath was born on the day of Margashirsha Amavasya while Moolam Nakshatram was there. Some time, Moolam Nakshatra doesn't coincide with Amavasya day, and then Hanumath Jayanthi day is preferred on the Amavasya day. Tamil Hanumath Jayanthi comes in January or December, though it is different from the Hanumath Jayanti celebrations in North India where Hanumath Jayanthi is called as Hanuman Jayanti and it falls in the Chaitra month full moon day. God Hanuman, also known as Vanara God or the Monkey God, was born on this day and thus people celebrate Hanumath Jayanthi as the birth of Hanuman.

Hanumath Jayanthi is often observed at different times of the year as per the calendar being followed. Hanuman Jayanti that falls on Chaitra Purnima is the most popular and widely celebrated in North Indian states. People send Hanuman Jayanthi wishes in Tamil.

Hanuman Jayanthi is celebrated for 41-days starting as deeksha on Chaitra Purnima and ends on the tenth day during Krishna Paksha in Vaishakha month(April – May) in Andhra Pradesh.

In Tamil Nadu, Hanumath Jayanthi is celebrated in all the Anjaneyar temples in the state. Special poojas are organised and often free laddus are prepared in the temple and distributed to devotees. Special Vadamala programme is held in Pallipalayam Tajnagar ‘Trinetra Dasabuja Anjaneyar’ temple where hundreds of devotees came and worshipped Anjaneyar. Same was the case of Dharapuram's ‘Kadu Anjaneyar’ temple, where grand celebration takes place.

Places where Hanumath Jayanthi is celebrated with utmost zeal and excitement in Suchindram Anjaneyar Kovil (Suvarchala Sahitha Hanuman Temple) near Kanyakumari, three famous Anjaneyar Temples at Mylapore in Chennai and Prasanna Yoga Anjaneyar Temple located near Madras Institute of Technology in Chromepet in Chennai.Hanuman Jayanti is observed on Shukla Paksha Trayodashi during Margashirsha month which is popularly known as Hanuman Vratam in Karnataka.
