Legends, Stories and Miracles of Tailang Swami

There are many stories that revolve around the spiritual powers of Telang Swami. As per Robert Arnett writings, Telang Swami’s miracles are well documented and stored. He lived a great life for around 300 years and displayed his awesome powers. He ate less and still was weighing over 140 kg. He could read the people’s mind like a book.

He could be seen drinking poison with no ill effect. There was a time when one of the person who did not believe him wanted to declare him as a scammer. He brought a bucket full with the calcium lime mixture. Telang Swami drank the full bucket without any negative effects on the body. Then he broke his natural silence in order to clarify the law of karma, its reason and effect. This content is the copyright of www.durganavratri.in.

Devotees at Varanasi saw him many times in a sitting position on the water surface of the river Ganges for many days. He disappeared for long periods under the water and then reappeared.

A person gave him white paint instead of milk to break his fast. Trailanga Swami drank the white paint nothing happened to him. But the person who gave him paint had severe stomach pain immediately and could not walk.
Trailanga Swami used to roam around naked and authorities found this disturbing. He was jailed many times but they soon see him sitting on roof of the police station. His non-believers accept that Tailang Swami lived for more than 250 years.

Philosophies of Tailang Swami

His philosophy is available by one of his disciples, the Umacharan Mukhopadhyay. Telang Swami had described the attachment of human to the world, the liberation and the assimilation in God. As per Telang Swami, if someone attained the desirelessness state this world is then altered into the heaven. And he can be liberated from the cycle of birth and death. Like this world is a chronic disease and the medicine is the way to detachment from disease.

He said that all the desire senses of the human body are his enemy and the senses which help in controlling are his friend. He described a poor person as the one who is very greedy. He described the Sadhu as one who has no attachment and desire.
