Bol Choth Vrat is observed on Krishna Chaturthi during Shravan month. Bol Choth vrat is mainly popular and celebrated in Gujarat and it falls one day before important Nag Pancham day in Gujarat. The day is mainly observed for the welfare of cows and calves who are cleaned, specially feeded and worshipped by men and women both in the evening. All members of the family worship cows on this day and it's very important day for the farming community as well.
A day long fast is observed on the day of Bol Choth. It is believed that people who observe a day long fast and worship cows in the evening are blessed with off-springs, wealth and prosperity. People who observe Bol Choth fasting strictly neither drink milk nor eat any milk-made products. Millet food is eaten on the day which is prepared under the open sky.
