Dasami Shraddha, the tenth day of Pitru Paksh, falls on Dashami day in Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada Panchangams, and in Ashwin month in Hindi calendars. Hindus observe the Pitru Paksha to pay honor to ancestors and to pray for departed family members. This day is set aside for performing shradh rites for ancestors who died in the Dashami tithi of any month. During the Pitru Paksha era, the Pitrus (ancestors) are thought to visit their descendants on Earth to accept the offerings they make.
