Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti 2023 Date

Maharaja Agrasen is a legendary Hindu king, and his birthday is celebrated as Agrasen Jayanti in numerous Indian states.

Agrasen Jayanti is held on the fourth day of the Hindu calendar's Ashwin month. It is a lucky day for Maharaja Agrasen's descendants - Agrahari, Agrawal, and Jain. The Vaishya sect observes this day with religious zeal.

On September 15, 3082 BC, Maharaja Agrasen was born. Agrasen Maharaj is well-known for refusing to slaughter animals in yajnas. In Haryana, he established the commercial kingdom of Agroha. Madhavi, a Nagavanshi family member, is Maharaja Agrasen's wife. The Agrawal Gotras were formed from the 18 offspring of Maharaja Agrasen.

According to Bharatendu Harishchandra's account, Maharaja Agrasen was a Suryavanshi Kshatriya prince who lived with Lord Krishna during the closing stages of the Dwapar Yuga in the Mahabharat epic era. He was the son of King Vallabha Dev, who was derived from Kush (the son of Lord Rama).

On this day, Agrasen devotees organize special welfare activities such as free medical camps, food distribution, cultural programs, and so on to disseminate the message of equality and fraternity.

Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti is a regional public holiday recognized mostly in four states: Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

According to mythology, some 5,000 years ago, the legendary Hindu ruler born to ruler Vallabah in the Suryavamsh Kshatriya Dynasty of Pratapnagar, now in Bangladesh.

Agrasen is credited with founding the Agrahari and Agrawal communities.

Maharaja Agrasen, A True Benevolent King

Agrasen, unlike previous emperors, is known to be benevolent. From an early age, Agrasen Maharaj's legacy and fame was compassion, not the capacity to overcome competitors or conquer. He was described as sympathetic, a believer in equality, and an opponent of prejudice. The 'One Brick and One Rupee' notion is a popular illustration of this. He used to give one brick and one Rupee to everyone who came to Agroha, his kingdom's capital, which is now part of the state of Haryana. The brick was provided to immigrants so that they could build their homes, and the coin was given to them so that they could start their enterprises. This is why his supporters mark the anniversary of his birth with charitable actions.
