One legend states that Masik Shivaratri
is celebrated in abode to the heavenly dance of creation, preservation,
and destruction (The Tandava Nritya) performed by lord Shiva. People
worship ‘Nataraja’(The dancing form of Lord Shiva) to achieve them get
salvation(moksha) by removing ego, lust, hatred, anger, pride and
jealousy.
Other legend says Shiva had appeared in the form of a ‘Lingam’, a symbol
of Shiva himself. Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma, first worshiped Lord

During ‘Samudra Manthan’, Lord Shiva saved the Earth from destruction on
this day and thus devotees worship on Masik Shivratri to honor Shiva. A
pot full of poison first emerged during samudra manthan. That poison
could have destroyed the world. Everybody prayed to Lord Shiva and he
