Tulsi Vivah 2021 Date
Tulsi Vivah is the ceremonial marriage of the Tulsi plant (holy basil) to Sri Hari Vishnu/Sri Krishna.The Tulsi or basil plant is regarded as a manifestation of the goddess Lakshmi, the consort of the god Vishnu. Sri Krishna wears a garland of holy basil leaves and flowers around his neck and Tulsi plant can be seen in almost all Hindu households. Some people light Diya (earthen lamp) below the Tulsi plant every day of the year leaving all Dwadashi tithis and Sundays of the year as touching or giving water or lighting diya below Tulsi is prohibited. Some people light diya below Tulsi plant only in the holy month of Kartik. Tulsi Vivah takes place in the month of Kartik when Vishnu and Krishna temples all over India and the world celebrate Tulsi wedding to Sri Vishnu.
In Tulsi Vivah, Tulsi who was known as Vrunda in her former birth and Shaligram which is the stone form of Lord Vishnu are married. Tulsi Vivah start on the first Ekadashi (Dev-Prabodhini Ekadashi) after Diwali and goes on till Purnima (15th day).
Tulsi is sacred plant found in every Hindu household. The Tulsi leaves are offered to Sri Vishnu Bhagvan. Tulsi is found near a holy river called Gandaki. Shree Vishnu said that He will stay on the banks of the Gandaki River in the form of Shaligram to remain with Tulsi forever.
