Utpanna Ekadashi 2024 Date

Utpanna Ekadashi is the Krishna Paksha Ekadashi that follows Kartik Purnima. After Devutthana Ekadashi, it is the following Ekadashi.

Utpanna Ekadashi is a notable Ekadashi since it is linked with the beginning of Ekadashi fasting. All Ekadashi fasting is devoted to Goddess Ekadashi, one of Lord Vishnu's Shaktis. Ekadashi was created by Lord Vishnu to destroy Demon Mur, who planned to slay the sleeping Lord Vishnu. As a result, Goddess Ekadashi is one of Lord Vishnu's protection powers. Hari Vasara is not the time for parana. Before breaking the fast, one should wait for Hari Vasara to finish. Hari Vasara is the first one-fourth of Dwadashi Tithi. If for whatever reason it is not possible to break the fast during Pratahkal, it should be done after Madhyahna.

The second alternative Ekadashi fasting is recommended for Sanyasis, widows, and those seeking Moksha. Smartha's alternate Ekadashi fasting day coincides with Vaishnava's Ekadashi fasting day.
