The best time to tie Rakhi on Raksha Bandhan is at Aparahna time which is late afternoon as per Hindu division of the day. If Aparahna time is not available on a particular day, then Pradosh time is also considered the suitable time to perform rituals related to Raksha Bandhan.

Raksha Bandhan rituals must not be performed during Bhadra time. Bhadra is an evil time which must be avoided for all auspicious works. Varalakshmi vratam or Varalakshmi vratham is also known as Varalakshmi Pooja & Varalakshmi Nombu is one of the important days to worship the goddess of wealth and prosperity, Maha Lakshmi who is also known by the name of Varalakshmi, consort of Lord Vishnu. A forms of Goddess Mahalakshmi, Goddess Varalakshmi came from the churning of the ocean or Kshir Sagar. Goddess Varalakshmi has the complexion of milky ocean and wears same color clothes.
Goddess Varalakshmi showers boons and fulfills all desires of her devotees. That is why she is known as Vara + Lakshmi i.e. Goddess Lakshmi who gives boons.

Varalakshmi Puja Muhurat

Fixed Lagna is regarded as the most appropriate time to worship Goddess Lakshmi as Lakshmi Puja done during fixed Lagna bestows long-lasting prosperity. Here four Puja timings in a day are given when fixed Lagna is there. You can choose any appropriate time among these for Varalakshmi Puja. However, evening time that overlaps with Pradosh Kaal is considered the most appropriate time to worship Goddess Lakshmi.

Goddess Varalakshmi showers boons and fulfills all desires of her devotees. That is why she is known as Vara + Lakshmi i.e. Goddess Lakshmi who gives boons.

The Varalakshmi vratham or Varamahalakshmi vratham is observed on the second Friday or the last Friday in the month of Shravana Shukla Paksha before the festival of Rakhi or Raksha Bandhan and Shravana Purnima. It is suggested that Varalakshmi Vrat should be observed by men and women both. In Andhra, Telangana and Maharashtra regions, Varalakshmi fasting in mainly performed by married women only. The Varalakshmi fasting is observed to get children, spouse, luxury and all sorts of material pleasures of Earth. People who are not able to observe Varalakshmi vratham on that day, can do it on any other Friday in that month.

Varalakshmi Vratam is regarded as one of the most appropriate days to propitiate and seek blessings of  Goddess Lakshmi. Varalakshmi Puja is not popular in North Indian states as compared to those of South Indian states. The fast is performed by consuming water only and consumption of grains are strictly avoided. Fruits and milk can be taken.

Goddess Varalakshmi showers boons and fulfills all desires of her devotees. That is why she is known as Vara + Lakshmi i.e. Goddess Lakshmi who gives boons.

The Varalakshmi vratham or Varamahalakshmi vratham is observed on the second Friday or the last Friday in the month of Shravana Shukla Paksha before the festival of Rakhi or Raksha Bandhan and Shravana Purnima. It is suggested that Varalakshmi Vrat should be observed by men and women both. In Andhra, Telangana and Maharashtra regions, Varalakshmi fasting in mainly performed by married women only. The Varalakshmi fasting is observed to get children, spouse, luxury and all sorts of material pleasures of Earth. People who are not able to observe Varalakshmi vratham on that day, can do it on any other Friday in that month.

Varalakshmi Vratam is regarded as one of the most appropriate days to propitiate and seek blessings of  Goddess Lakshmi. Varalakshmi Puja is not popular in North Indian states as compared to those of South Indian states. The fast is performed by consuming water only and consumption of grains are strictly avoided. Fruits and milk can be taken.

Thus Sawan Somwar dates in these regions might differ from Amanta as well as Purnimant calendar. Shravan or Savan month's name is derived from the Nakshatra (constellation) Shravan. Highly auspicious time to start Solah Somvar Vrat Katha is from first Sawan Somwaar for women as well as men. Somvar Vrat or Somvaar Vrat is mainly categorized into three categories:

Onam is a Hindu festival celebrated mainly by the people of Kerala. Malayali festival Onam is celebrated by native speakers of Malayalam. Onam is celebrated in Chingam month on Malayalam Solar Calendar. Chingam month is known as Simha month in other solar calendars and in Tamil Calendar it is known as Avani month. In the month of Chingam when Nakshatra Thiruvonam prevails during Madhyahna part of the day, that day is considered for Onam celebrations. Thiruvonam Nakshatra is known as Shravana in other Hindu Calendars.

The festival honours the appearance of Vamana avatar of Vishnu and the home coming of the legendary King Mahabali. Onam celebrates the Asura King Mahabali's annual visit from Patala Lok, the lok that is considered to be under Earth. It is believed that Asura King Mahabali visits every Malayali home to meet people on Thiruvonam day. Onam celebrations start on Atham day (the day when Atham Nakshatra prevails) and continue for 10 days till Thiruvonam day. Atham Nakshatra is known as Hasta Nakshatra in other Hindu Calendars. The first day of Onam is popularly known as Atthachamayam day. Post Thiruvonam day, Onam celebrations continue for another two days which means Onam is a twelve days long festival.Onam state holidays start one day before and end after two days of main Thiruvonam day. The holidays are named first Onam, second Onam, third Onam and fourth Onam where the second Onam is the most important day of four days holidays.

Sankashti Chaturthi or Sankatahara Chaturthi is the day dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Sankashti Chaturthi falls on every 4th day after Pournami full moon (Krishna Paksha) of Hindu lunar calendar month. Each Hindu calendar month has two Chaturthi Tithis. Chaturthi tithi after Purnima or full moon during Krishna Paksha is known as Sankashti Chaturthi and the one after Amavasya or new moon during Shukla Paksha is known as Vinayaka Chaturthi. “Sankashti” word is originated from Sanskrit language which means “liberation during the difficult times”. On the day of Sankashti Chaturthi, prayers are offered to Sri Ganesha. Sankashti Chaturthi fasting is done every month but the most significant Sankashti Chaturthi falls in month of Magha and Paush.
