Devaki and Yashoda - Mothers of Krishna

Lord Krishna was born to Devaki, but it was Yashoda, the wife of Nanda, who raised him. Krishna was showered with the blessings of both his mothers. Krishna's biological father Vasudeva brought the newborn Krishna to Nanda Baba in Gokul, in order to raise and protect Krishna from Devaki's brother Kansa, the king of Mathura. Despite being Devaki's biological son, Krishna is  renowned as Yashoda's child.

Once after seeing Krishna eating mud as a kid, Yashoda scolded him and tied him to a grinding stone. And as she asked him to open his mouth, she fell unconscious after seeing the entire universe inside. She realised that her son is no ordinary child, but God himself.
