On the day of the festival, one should get up early and take a bath. On this day, worship Sri Ganesha and wear red clothes. Face east or north when you are praying. Make God sit on a clean seat or surface. Light incense-lamps in front of the idol or picture of God. Recite and Chant the Ganesha mantra “Om Ganeshay Namah or Om Gan Ganapataye Namah”. After worshiping, present Lord Ganesha with laddoos or other treats prepared with sesame seeds. After reading the Vrat Katha and viewing the moon in the evening, one may break their fast. Make a donation to the needy after completing the fast.

Vibhuvana Sankashti Chaturthi 2023: Significance
Hindus attach considerable importance to Sankashti Chaturthi. On this specific day, known as Sankashti Chaturthi, people fast remembering Lord Ganesha and pray to him. Two Chaturthi Tithis occur in each month of the Hindu calendar. Sankashti Chaturthi is the name of the Chaturthi tithi that occurs after Purnima, or the full moon during Krishna Paksha, while Vinayaka Chaturthi is the one that occurs after Amavasya, or the new moon during Shukla Paksha. Sankashti, a term that derives from Sanskrit means "liberation from the hard times"
Every Chaturthi has a unique name, and a different form of Ganesha is worshipped for a different Ganpati peetha. It occurs every three years because Vibhuvana Sankashti Chaturthi comes during Adhik Maas. Vibhuvana Palaka Maha Ganpati is worshipped On Vibhuvana Sankashti Chaturthi and the name of the Peetha is Durva Bilva Patra Peetha.
Although there are two Chaturthi days that fall each month, one in Krishna Paksha and the other in Shukla Paksha, the Vibhuvan Sankashti Chaturthi fast only occurs once every three years because this fast falls during Adhik Maas. On the Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the Adhik month, devotees observe the Vibhuvan Sankashti Chaturthi fast and honor Lord Ganesha. It is stated that worshiping Lord Ganesha on this day will solve all of one's problems. Along with this, individuals also benefit from blessings related to wealth and happiness. Arghya is offered to moon at night, and then the fast is completed.
This day is dedicated to the worship of Lord Ganesha. As per Vedas and scriptures, Lord Ganesha is referred to as Vighnaharta. Sri Ganesha removes all of the problems of the devotees and also fulfills the desires. Vibhuvana Sankashti is one of the 13 Sankashtahara Chauth Vrats. Sankat’ or ‘Sankashta’ means problems, and ‘hara means the destroyer. All types of barriers are eliminated from one's life, and they are blessed in many ways by Sri Ganesha, when they observe a fast on the day of Vibhuvan Sankashti Chaturthi.
People keep a fast in honor of Lord Ganesha because it is said that doing so makes him happy and that he would then reward his worshippers, ridding them of all their problems and bringing pleasure into their life.
