Bhagavad Gita Quotes in Hindi 2018

Bhagavad Gita Quotes In Hindi, Geeta Shlok In Hindi

Lord Krishna is the Supreme Truth, the supreme cause and sustaining force of everything that are both material and spiritual in nature. Souls who understand him surrender unto Him in devotion, whereas impious souls divert their minds to other things of worship.

Lord Krishna is the Supreme God and the supreme object of worship. The soul is eternally related to Him through transcendental devotional service (bhakti). By reviving one's pure devotion one returns to Krishna in the spiritual realm. The glories of the Bhagavad-gita, and the ultimate conclusion of the Gita: the highest path of religion is absolute, unconditional loving surrender unto Lord Krishna, which frees one from all sins, brings one to complete enlightenment, and enables one to return to Krishna's eternal spiritual abode. These are some of the beautiful quotes of Bhagvad Gita in Hindi language.

Chhath Puja 2018 Dates

Chhath Puja 2018 Dates

Chhath Puja is dedicated to Sun God or Lord Surya and his wife known as "Chhathi Maiya" or Goddess Usha. Lord Surya is the deity worshipped during four days of Chhath Puja and the Sun God and his wife Usha are thanked for providing life on earth. Chhath Puja occurs the sixth day after Diwali and the fasting is mainly observed in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, UP and also Nepal by women folks for the well-being of sons and the happiness of the family. The main day to perform Chhath Puja is Kartika Shukla Shashthi, which is the sixth day of the Kartik month.

First day of Chhath Puja is known as Nahay Khay in which only a single meal is taken by women observers. A dip in the holy waters especially in river Ganga takes place on this day. Women folks who observe Chhath take only single meal on this day.

Second day of Chhath is known as Kharna. Women fast on this day from sunrise to sunset without water. After offering food to the Sun God at sunset, the fast is broken.

Third day fasting in chatth puja starts after having Prasad on the second day. The prasad offerings include kheer, thekua, rice laddu and other things. On the third main day of Chhath Puja, a full day fast without water is observed. Arghya is offered to Sun in the evening. This is the main ritual and the only day of the year when Arghya is offered to the Sun in the evening. The third day Chatth Puja fasting continues for the whole night. Parana is done on the next day after sunrise.

Arghya is offered to the rising Sun and it is known as Usha Arghya on the fourth and final day of Chhath. The 36 hours long fast is thus completed. Chhath Puja is also known by the names of Pratihar, Dala Chhath, Chhathi and Surya Shashthi.

Why it is called Chhath?

The word Chhath means "six" as this festival is celebrated on the sixth day of the month of Karthika.

Chhath Puja History

It is believed that Chhath Puja was celebrated by Draupadi and the Pandavas of Hastinapur during ancient times to solve their problems and regain their lost kingdom.

Rig Veda mantras are chanted while worshipping the sun. It is believed that Chhath Puja was first started during Mahabharata times by Surya Putra Karna who ruled over the Anga Desh (which is now Bhagalpur in Bihar).

Vaishno Devi 2018

Mata Vaishno Devi (2018)

Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is located on the Trikuta Parvat - a three-peaked mountain in the state of Jammu and Kashmir where more than 5 million devotees come annually. Goddess Vaishnodevi can be

seen in the form of three natural rock formations or simply called as the 'Pindiyas'- one of Maa Saraswati, one of Maa Lakshmi and the third one of Maa Kali.

Vaishno Devi Story – Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Story

Vaishno Devi story starts when Mother Goddess Shakti appeared to kill the asuras or the demons on earth who were in the process of killing innocent people. These demons were spreading Adharma (the
wrong path) everywhere. Maa Vaishno Devi came into light when Mother Goddess Kali, Maa Saraswati and Maa Lakshmi appeared together and 3 of these Devis or Goddesses formed one Goddess which came to be known as Maa Vaishno Devi. So Mata Vaishno Devi is in the form of three pindies (Sacred stones) as physical true forms of three Goddesses and it is beleived that the 3 pindies will be present till the end of Kaliyuga.

She was later born as the daughter of Lord Ratnakar. The parents named her Vaishnavi. Since childhood, Vaishnavi was extremely spiritual and as her soul was of Lakshmi so she wanted to have Sri Hari Vishnu as her consort. Because of her divine presence on earth, every living being became happy. Where Vaishnavi resided, that place became heaven.

During the vanvaas or exile period of Sri Ram, Vaishnavi met Sri Ram. As Sri Ram was the avataar of Sri Hari Vishnu, she decided to go with her. But Sri Ram told her that he was Maryadapurushottam and his wife is Sita. Sri Ram promised Vaishnavi that he will come in the form of Lord Kalki in the age of Kalyug and at that time, she would be merged with him. Sri Ram then asked the divine Goddess Vaishno to stay and setup her abode in Trikuta Hills and spread Dharma. Goddess Vaishno Devi is the Mother Goddess on Earth during this present age of Kali Yuga. Millions of devotees from all over the globe travel to this highly spiritual destination of Hindus - Vaishno Devi.

Devotees after halting at (present day) Banganga, Charan Paduka, and Adhkwari, finally are able to reache the holy cave Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi. It is believed that Mata Rani stayed in the holy cave of Adhkawari for 9 complete months and this 9 months also signifies the 9 months of preganancy. Lord Hanuman waited for the mother goddess and guarded her outside the cave.  Mata Vaishno then wanted to wash herself but as no water could be found there, so she took an arrow and striked it towards the land and water came out from that place. It is same place of present day Ban-Ganga. The river was named Ban-ganga after this. After that, she came to the present day Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi and took rest and started meditation. Bhaironnath when came to know about the presence of Mata Vaishno went there but was stopped by Hanuman. After a fierce battle with Goddess Vaishno, Bhairon Nath was killed and beheaded just outside the mouth of the cave. The severed head of Bhairon Nath fell with force on a distant hilltop. Bhairon Nath soon realised and prayed to the Goddess to forgive him. Mata Vaishno Devi then gave mercy to Bhairon and even gave him a boon that every devotee coming to visit the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine would have to visit and have the Darshan of Bhaironath after having the Darshan of the Goddess and only then his/her Vaishno Devi Yatra would be completed. After this, Maa Vaishnavi decided to shed off her human form and took the face of a 3 rock formations and she immersed her self into meditation forever. This is the original Mata Vaishno Devi pindies. Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is the official body taking care of the whole of the yatra and maintaining the Shrine.

The Sage told Lord Rama and others about the Vijaya Ekadashi fasting and its benefits and how they can reach Lanka.

When Lord Ram reached to Samudra (sea), he asked the sea for the help on showing them the correct path to Lanka, but the Sea God didn't reply. The great sage was named Balada Bhaya who was asked by Ram and Lakshman to show them how they can reach Lanka. Saint Balada Bhaya advised the two brothers to observe the Vijaya Ekadashi fast. Upon observing the Vijaya Ekadashi fast, they will definitely come as victorious in any difficulty and obstacle they face on their way to Lanka, said sage Balada Bhaya. Uttarayan 2018, Uttarayan 2018 Date

Uttarayan 2018, Uttarayan 2018 Date

The term Uttarayan or Uttarayana is made up of two sanskrit words "uttara" and "ayana", the first meaning north and the later meaning movement. The day of Uttarayan or Makar Sankranti (as it is called in North India) is dedicated to Lord Surya. Entering of Sun into Capricorn sign from Gemini is known as Uttarayan. When Sun transit from Cancer to Sagittarius, it is known as Dakshinayan. It starts the day after winter solstice in January uptill June. Uttarayan begins 14 January. Entering of Sun into Makar rashi or capricorn sign is celebrated as Makar Sankranti in North India. It is celebrated as Uttarayan in the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. The same period is known as Pongal in Tamil Nadu and Maghi in Haryana and Punjab. The days become longer and nights become shorter starting this day of Uttarayan.

The day of Uttarayan is very auspicious as it is considered the day time of the "Devas" or time of Gods so if you start any new work, new business, yajna, vow, marriages, etc. is considered very auspicious and fruitful. Kite playing festival is celebrated on Uttarayan day in Gujarat. Skies of Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara can be seen covered with kites.

Uttarayan Importance and Legends

1.  Lord Krishna once said in Bhagwad Geeta "Uttarayan is the most auspicious period of six months having maximum light. If anybody leaves his body in this period then he will attain moksha.
2.  Bhishma Pitamaha of Mahabharata died on this day of Uttarayan as Bhisma Pitamah had a boon that he will die only when he wishes. So, he choose this day of Uttarayana. It is believed that people who die during Uttarayana merges with the God, thus ending the cycle of rebirth.
3.  Bhagirath brought down river Ganga into Patala on Makara Sankranti/Uttarayana day for moksha or salvation for his ancestors. Thus bathing in river Ganga or bathing with River Ganga water on this day of Makara Sankranti/Uttarayan is of high importance.
